Herbert H. Kearns | Herbert Harrison Kearns was born on December 11, 1925 in Baden, North Carolina. He joined the US Marine Corps and fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He moved to Beverly NJ and went to work for RCA – David Sarnoff Research Center near Princeton, NJ, helping to develop solar energy collectors. He met Gilda "Jill" Ulissi in Beverly and married her in 1950. He later became a teacher at Holy Cross High School in Delran. He was a key force in building the American Legion Hall in Riverside. Later in life, Herb and Jill bought a house on McCay Way in Delanco.
